I love Little Mexico in Kearney, they have the best chips and salsa (margaritas are great as well!). If I am in Lincoln, I enjoy eating at Grisanti's. Hmmm, haven't been there in awhile, guess I need a road trip! ~ Shawna

Someone post "Carlos O'Kelley's" on the front page so I moved it here -- Stan Schulz

Head east out of Lincoln on "O" until you see two fake palm trees by a little strip mall--La Paloma--great Mexican. Sue

When we are in the area my co-workers and I like to eat at Stubb's Fine Dining in Thedford - where we always leave room for pie! We also try to hit Junie Mae's Roadhouse Barbecue on the north shore of Lake McConoughy when it works out, but as Michael discovered they don't accept credit cards! -- Susan K.

Granite City in Lincoln or Omaha is always a great place to eat -- try their Sunday brunch!  When in Norfolk, you have to eat at Prengers.  Marci

I like Grisanti's in Lincoln Willie

The Wolf's Den in Stanton make the best and biggest hamburgers.  The Granary in Norfolk makes a variety of delicious meals especially the chicken dinner.  Carol

If you are ever in Burwell try the Sandstone Grill, they far surpass burgers and fries. I also make the desserts there.

Minneapolis: My son recently moved to Minneapolis and he has taken us to several ethnic restaurants on Central Ave.  I've enjoyed trying these more than any chain restraurant that we've tried.  The first one he took us to was called Holy Land.  It is a middle easten deli and grocery store.  We've also tried a Mexican and an Indian restaurant.  Here is a list of more ethnic restaurants in Minneapolis if you are ever feeling adventurous. -Bev 1-2-'09

Chances R in York, NE!!!!!!  Kathy

La Cabana De Franko in Omaha on South 24th St. The menu is very small but the chilaquiles is amazing. Good salsa too. - Susan

There is a great restaurant in Spearfish, SD called "The Bay Leaf"  It is an amazing dining experience, one in which you can hear all those dining sighs as you eat.  Another great one is "The Alley Rose" in Kearney.  Nice wines to go with food.  Anne Q.

The Plainsmen in Juniata.  They have the best Prime Rib.

Dana

My favorite restaurant is Little Mexico in Kearney.  It has great mexican food! - vc

PRETEND YOU'RE THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ..

Wouldn't you like to have the opportunity to let people visiting your community know about an eatery with a regional reputation.  Well, in York we can do that. You may have heard of [CHANCES "R"].

A couple of favorites in Lincoln:

  • Tandoor - wonderful Indian cuisine; close to 40th and Old Cheney
  • El Toro - our favorite Mexican place; 48th and Van Dorn (great chili rellenos!)
  • Shogun - Japanese; a little pricey, but you get dinner and a show!

Favorites in Lincoln:

Tandoor--Overall favorite in Lincoln

Juice Stop--quick and refreshing lunch

Merle's in Emerald--great burgers and specials, but the atmosphere's a little smoky

OOOOooo I must agree with Little Mexico in Kearny. Anytime I am traveling east I must stop for a Little Mexico fix in Kearney either on the way down or the way back to Gordon.

I'm a fan of Olive Garden. I think Kearney would be a great market for one.

Nothing but burgers and fries available out here in the boonies. So I bought some good cookbooks on Indian curries and Asian cooking, ordered lots of spices from www.penzeys.com and have become my own gourmet cook (or if not gourmet, at least the food is palpable).
