Favorite Vacation Spots

Christmas would not be the same without reading O'Henry or the the Night before Christmas, I bet that is one poem almost everyone knows by heart, A wish for wings that work has become another favorite.  Every couple of years I find myself reading Maigret's Christmas by Georges Simenon.   Every holiday I try to put out books that are themed related in the children's books, it never fails I end up reading several of them.  I tell my self oh, this is a good one and then I read it.  Hazzards of the job.  Library535

Do you have a great inspirational, funny, or favorite family book you read for the holidays?

I do check out "Mrs. Claus Takes a Vacation".  Linas Alsenas

My favorite Christmas book is The Christmas Miracle of Johathan Toomey by Susan Wojciechowski. It's written as a children's book and the illustrations, by P.J. Lynch, are warm and expressive. But adults will relate to the woodcarver and the events that shaped his life as well.  Rae S.

Every Mother's Day and on my children's birthdays I read "Love You Forever", blow my nose, think of my mother and smile and go on.  Judy G.

Some of my holiday favorites include: It's Halloween by Jack Prelutsky, Why Christmas Trees Aren't Perfect by Richard Schneider and a new one this year is I See Santa Everywhere by Glenn McCoy .- gew

My favorite Christmas books are: The Man of the House at Huffington Row by Mary Brigid Barrett, Mary Did You Know? by Mark Lowry, Silent Night by Susan Jeffers, The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree by Gloria Houston, Silver Packages by Cynthia Rylant, The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey by Susan Wojciechowski, and the story "Maggie's Gift" from the book Angels and Other Strangers by Katherine Paterson. -Daneda

I have to read The Night Before Christmas every year. I've always loved it. Of course the "Christmas Story" read at church each year is dearest to my heart . . . especially when I have children walking through as Shepherds, Kings, Mary or Joseph, etc.
